9.3.2. Diagram 550.1 (S2‑2‑30, see Figure 9-7) warns of accompanied or ridden horses or ponies (as opposed to wild horses or ponies indicated by the sign to diagram 550) where numbers of horses are frequently walked or ridden along or cross over the road. Warning of horses crossing the road ahead, e.g. where a bridleway crosses the road, can be given by ANIMALS AND FARM TRAFFIC 53 adding a distance plate (with an arrow if the crossing is in another road). Similarly, diagram 550.2 (S2‑2‑31, see Figure 9-8) is used to warn of horse‑drawn vehicles in the road ahead.
