Established in 1989, Sign Trade Supplies was founded by Neville Spurgeon to bring supply of materials to the sign making industry. Throughout the years Sign Trade Supplies has grown from strength to strength, specialising in the fast, flexible and reliable supply of aluminium profiles, fixings and components.

Over the past 35 years, we have distinguished ourselves by being fast, flexible, and reliable. Our primary goal is to offer a consistent and speedy supply of sign-making materials to all sign companies, irrespective of their size, across the entire UK. Through strategic partnerships with couriers, dedicated vans, and our own fleet, we ensure prompt delivery of our products nationwide – whether it's a single fixing clip or an entire stillage of 6000mm posts.
With an extensive stockholding of aluminium sign profiles, fixings, and components, we have a robust foundation to create both standard and bespoke fixing assemblies. These assemblies are designed not only to meet your specific needs but also to enhance the speed and efficiency your of projects.

It's In The Blood
William Harris, the grandfather of Sign Trade founder Neville Spurgeon, was a self-taught traditional signwriter. Before World War II, he found employment painting farmers' hay wagons. In his later years, Neville frequently accompanied his grandfather, sparking a profound interest in the art of signwriting.
1938
Sign Trade Supplies Founded
Neville Spurgeon established the company with the aim of providing sign supplies to the Kent & Sussex area. Following an apprenticeship under a traditional signwriter, Neville identified a market gap for brushes and specialised paints, motivating him to fill this void and cater to the specific needs of the industry.
1989
New Ranges & New Premises
In 1995, the company underwent a pivotal move to its inaugural industrial unit, marking a significant stride in expanding its potential stock and services within the South East area. The modest 1500 sq/ft unit facilitated the addition of self-adhesive vinyl and sheeting to the company's offerings, making it the first in the South East to provide these products.

Maidstone Premises Adds Manufacturing
Following the expansion of products and services at Hopewell Drive in Chatham, the time for a new chapter had arrived. In 2004, Sign Trade Supplies relocated to Granville Road in Maidstone, ushering in a transformative era marked by substantial investments in CNC machinery and flatbed printers. This strategic move marked the commencement of Sign Trade Supplies' journey into manufacturing.
2004
From Regional to National!
Up until this point, Sign Trade Supplies had primarily operated as a regional supplier, focusing on serving customers in Kent, Sussex, and the neighboring areas. However, a pivotal shift occurred with the launch of the company's first e-commerce website. This groundbreaking move extended Sign Trade Supplies' reach nationwide, making sign supplies accessible to customers across the entire country.
2014
Room to grow in Sittingbourne
After nearly two decades in Maidstone, the company had surpassed the confines of its existing space. With a shift in product focus towards aluminum profiles and fixings, the demand for a more spacious processing warehouse became evident. In January 2023, we commenced operations in our new 22,500 sq ft unit in Sittingbourne, Kent, ushering in a new chapter of expanded capabilities and growth.
