Bring your ideas to life with our aluminium extrusion development service. Our inhouse team is ready to assist you in taking your project from concept to reality.
With our inhouse CAD design, accurate prototyping and experience with aluminium extrusions you are in safe hands.
Embarking on the journey of creating a new aluminum extrusion may seem daunting at first glance. However, when broken down into four distinct stages, the process becomes clear and manageable. Our in-house design team is here to collaborate with you every step of the way:
CAD Design: we start by discussing your ideas and initial designs. Together, we'll refine them into a comprehensive 3D model.
Prototype & Testing: Using our state-of-the-art resin printer, we'll create a highly accurate prototype of the profile for your review and approval.
Production and Finishing: Once the prototype meets your specifications, we'll move forward with placing your first order and developing the die. After extrusion, we can apply your preferred finish to the extrusion.
Delivery Options: Your finished product can then be shipped directly to your door. If you prefer stockholding and the ability to draw down from your inventory, we offer this service as well.
At every stage, our goal is to streamline the process and ensure your satisfaction. Let's bring your aluminum extrusion project to life, step by step.
CAD Design
Our inhouse team can take your idea and create a design and 3D model ready for prototyping. Our design practices focus on efficiency looking to reduce aluminium content whilst maintaining strength.
Prototype
& Testing
Using our 3D resin printer we create extremely accurate prototypes for evaluation.
Die Development
Once the prototype is approved the aluminium die is milled ready for the extrusion process
Extruding
& Stockholding
Our extensive history in aluminium allows us to provide a flexible extrusion service, with the ability to provide a variety of coatings and finishes.
To ensure a cost effective development and extrusion service there are minimum order quantities that will need to be reached when considering a new profile design. When working with aluminium extrusions everything is measured in weight. As a rule of thumb, 500-1000kg of the new profile would need to be ordered to make it a viable project.
How much does a die cost to produce?
Dies for aluminium profiles can range from simple to extremely complex multi-step tools. It is very hard to provide an average cost for a die when so many factors can effect the cost. We are happy to advise on a case by case basis.
Do I need to have engineering drawings?
Engineers drawings, DXF files or CAD files will certainly speed up the design and prototype process. However if you have an idea we are more than happy to work with you from scratch.
How long does it take to produce a custom extrusion?
Depending on the complexity of the profile timescales can vary. This is due to the nature of testing, prototyping and die manufacturing. You can expect a simple profile to be developed and extruded in 6-8 weeks from acceptance of final design.
What finishes can you provide?
We are proud to offer a large range of finishes that includes powder coating, decro wood effect, anodising or just plain mill finish.
Where are the profiles extruded?
All of our profiles are extruded in the UK or Europe meaning we have a higher level of quality control in comparison to other services available. Our base aluminium billets have a high recycled content and are cast in the ground using renewable energy to reduce the CO2 produced by 68% in comparison to worldwide averages.
