Diagram 772 is to display a tramcar crossing that may pose a hazard to other road users. Modern day tram lines are still in operation in a number of UK cities including: South London, Blackpool, Edinburgh, Manchester , Nottingham, Sheffield and more.

20.1.3. Diagram 772 (S2‑2‑53, see Figure 20-3) is used in advance of open tramway crossings which have neither gates nor barriers. These signs should normally be sited at a distance from the crossing related to the 85th percentile speed of approaching vehicles, in accordance with Appendix A.
