76mm welded baseplate sign posts provide the flexibility to install a sign on solid, structural surfaces such as concrete.
Many car parking signs, facilities management sites and private business parks will require a sign to be installed without the ability to dig traditional post foundations. As a solution for this we offer aluminium posts with a welded flange base plate for surface mounting.
Each 76mm diameter aluminium sign post has a 300mm diameter x 10mm thick aluminium plate structurally welded to the bottom. The plate has 4 pre-drilled fixing holes at 13mm diameter ready to accept standard anchor fixings.
How to install a sign post into concrete?
Installing a sign post into concrete would require a lot of time and effort and the use of an industrial breaker to dig the hole for the post foundation.
Instead, we recommend using a welded base plate post to surface mount onto the concrete pad that already exists. The welded base plates have 13mm dia holes ready for anchor bolt fixings which means just 4 holes will need to be drilled into the concrete with an STS drill.
When to use an sign post with a baseplate?
Welded flange plate posts are a brilliant choice when installing small wayfinding, informational and safety signs in an area that already has concrete surfaces. Baseplate posts are often used in car parks and business parks where digging holes is not a possibility.
How tall can a sign post with a welded baseplate be?
We recommend that surface mounted sign posts should not exceed 3500mm without a structural calculation and added structural supports welded on.
What fixings should be used to surface mount a sign post into concrete?
For installing the baseplate posts onto a sound concrete pad, we would suggest using M12 x 125mm Through bolts. These are specifically designed for structural fixings into solid, non-cracked concrete foundations.
