Diagram 622.6 prohibits ridden or accompanied horses from a route. This is usually to enforce a byelaw but also to protect certain routes that are only intended for pedestrians and cyclists.

As per the UK Highways Traffic Sign Manual Chapter 3 - Regulatory Signs page: 51 The following advice is given:
