Diagram 779 is used to warn road users they will be passing under an electrified cable. These signs MUST show the safe vehicle height of the cable to ensure all vehicles are away if they can fit safely under the cable. Often sited at rail and tramcar crossings.

20.2.1. Diagram 779 (S2‑2‑54, see Figure 20-11) warns of a place where a road passes under an electrified overhead power cable. It must always be accompanied by a plate indicating the safe maximum height vehicle that can pass below the cable (see Figure 20-12, Figure 20-13 & Figure 20-14). These signs are normally associated with overhead electric railway or tramway cables and should be used at all such crossings.
