Sign Trade Supplies is over the moon with the brand new installation of our AF 110-45-S Diamond Edge Polisher, All the way from Germany the installation and training from manufacturer AF Acryl was top class! A big thank you to Ralf for taking the time to set up our machine and complete extensive training to our workshop staff.  

The new machine makes light work of polishing acrylic and polycarbonate panels with a maximum thickness of up to a whopping 45mm! However our standard polishing materials available to order will be:

• 5mm, 8mm and 10mm Clear Polished Acrylic
• 10mm Green Edge Polished Acrylic

The benefits of a diamond edge polished acrylic is the level of clarity achieved and the excellent consistency. Traditional flame polished acrylic panels tend to be slightly irregular and do not achieve the same levels of clarity as the diamond edge polisher.

See below the results from our edge polisher on a piece of 25mm Clear Acrylic. The picture below shows the 25mm acrylic with a saw cut then after it has been polished. The difference is outstanding:

What are the main uses of edge polished acrylic?

Edge polished acrylic is mainly used for wall mounted plaques, POS displays and borderless picture framing (reverse printed vinyl applied to the rear of the acrylic). The crisp clear edge gives the item a glass like effect without the dangers and limitations of working with real glazing.
