When it comes to signs, you want materials that look great, last long, and don’t cause headaches. Real wood looks great and can seem like a good choice, but cost and longevity can be a challenge. That’s where Decro’s wood-effect aluminium comes in. It looks just like timber but offers all the benefits of aluminium. Here’s our ten reasons why more and more signmakers are switching to Decro.
No minimum orders
Got a small job? No problem at all. At Sign Trade Supplies, we stock oak and teak finishes, and you can order just what you need. Whether it’s a one-off sign or a rush job, no minimums make life a lot easier. You can focus on your project without worrying about overordering or extra costs.
Built to last
Real wood can crack, warp, or rot when exposed to the elements. Not Decro. It’s tough stuff, standing up to whatever nature throws at it. Once you switch to Decro, you’ll see a huge difference. No more replacing signs every couple of years. It’s built to handle the long haul and keep your projects looking fresh for years.
Looks perfect every time
When you work with wood, there’s always the chance of imperfections – uneven grain, knots, or splinters. With Decro, it’s a flawless, consistent finish every single time. No surprises here, just smooth, sleek results that make your designs stand out and look great.
Weather-proof
Rain, wind, snow, or sun – Decro’s got it covered. It’s UV-resistant, so your signs stay vibrant even after years of exposure to harsh weather. The best part? You’ll save time and money on repairs and replacements. With Decro, your signs stand strong through the toughest conditions, looking as good as new.
No surprises with the material
Unlike wood, Decro doesn’t shrink or expand with changes in weather. This makes installation and maintenance much easier. You know exactly how it’s going to behave, which means fewer headaches on-site. It makes for smoother projects and happier clients.
Good for the planet
Choosing Decro is a win for the planet. It’s fully recyclable, which means less waste to landfill and fewer trees being chopped down. You can deliver high-quality results without harming the environment. It’s a smart, sustainable choice that aligns with eco-conscious businesses looking to make a positive impact. Get creative
Want to get creative with your designs? Decro is the perfect material to do just that. Whether you’re looking for sharp, clean lines or intricate, detailed shapes, aluminium gives you more flexibility than timber. It allows signmakers to experiment, explore new designs, and offer clients exactly what they want.
Easy to work with
Let’s face it, wood can be heavy and difficult to handle. Decro’s aluminium profiles are much lighter, which makes installations quicker and easier. Your team won’t be worn out from handling heavy materials, and you’ll get the job done faster. Plus, lighter materials mean fewer backaches for your crew.
No fuss maintenance
With Decro, forget about sanding, sealing, or re-staining. It’s low-maintenance, meaning your signs look great for longer with very little effort. No more spending time or money on upkeep. Decro saves you the hassle of constant maintenance, so you can focus on getting your next project off the ground.

Need your materials fast? Sign Trade Supplies’ oak and teak finishes are in stock and ready to ship. For custom finishes, we guarantee delivery within just four weeks. We’re known for our fast, reliable delivery, so you can rest assured that you’ll get the materials you need when you need them.

How Does Decro Work?
The Decro process coats aluminium profiles and extrusions with a durable, weather resistant coating that mimics natural patterns and texutres of wood, marble, stone or corten steel.
The coating process goes through 3 key stages to achieve the end result:
-
Pre-treatment
The aluminium profiles are chemically cleaned and degreased to maximise the quality of the powder coat stage. -
Powder coat base layer
The pre-treated metal profiles are powder coated to provide a protection coat and also a base colour. Once coated with the electrostatic powder the profiles are baked in an industrial oven, -
Design Application
After the powder coating process the profiles are ready to accept the final texture effect. A unique ink is printed onto a carrier film which is then vacuumed over the length of the profile. The profiles are then sent back through the industrial oven which permanently transfers the printed effect onto the powder coat base layer.
