Creating a sign installation that utilises 3 aluminium sign posts and 2 sign blanks in a triangular configuration is what we call a V mount sign installation. This type of sign system is often used on roadsides, entryways and new housing developments. The 3 post configuration is simple to create but does require certain specifications to enable the exact 90 degree display.

1. Positioning The Sign Channel

When manufacturing the sign blanks that are to be mounted to the posts, It is important to pay close attention to the layout of the aluminium sign channel extrusion (also known as signfix or sign stiffening rail).

There are 2 points to include in the sign construction:

  1. The sign channel must be “offset” on each panel. This term means the channel on sign A must be staggered in comparison to sign B. This allows for the clip to be fitted around the middle post and into the rail.

  2. The sign channel must be installed flush to the edge of the blank where the signs meet. This ensures there is enough sign channel for the fixing clip to slide into.

2. Positioning The Sign Posts

To ensure the sign blanks install correctly the support posts must be positioned accurately in the ground. This is particularly important to ensure the sign channel does not foul the opposing sign blank where it meets on the middle post.

If the posts are positioned with an angle that is greater or smaller than 90° then the sign channel that is flush with the edge of the sign blank will foul the other panel.
